The ministry said the new agreement means exactly the same rules apply for beef that Americans eat and the meat exported to Korea.
The new import terms are expected to take effect either on June 2 or 3. Quarantine inspections will start with a shipment of 5,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],129 tons that already arrived in Korea in early October, when inspections were suspended after banned vertebrae bones were found. The shipment is of ostensibly boneless beef from cattle under 30 months and could be passed without problem under the new import terms even if it does contain bone fragments. Next is a shipment of 7,000 tons already inspected in the U.S. but stopped before it was loaded, also in October. The shipment is also of boneless beef from cattle under 30 months and will be distributed in Korea around mid-June allowing for 15 days for transport and three days�� inspection.
